Rocket to Mars at Cockermouth School

Paul Kitchin and Martin Howell of Green Design Group were pleased to attend the 'Rocket toMars' event held at Cockermount School to launch phase 3 of the Science Skills Laboratories and Planetarium Project (SSLAP).

The Keynote speaker was Professor Sir Keith O'Nions FRS with additional talks by Trevor Craig of React, Geoff Walker with practical experiments and rockets demonstration by Rik Smith.

Green Design Group were pleased to exhibit new 3D fly around of the SSLAP buildings along with updated drawings drawings which will be submitted for planning later in the month.

Cockermouth School car park nearing completion

Green Design Group Architects have been acting for Cockermouth School Governors for a fast track project to upgrade the main car parking areas at the front of Cockermouth School over the summer.

Story Construction won the tender and have pulled out all the stops to install hundreds of square meters of permeable parking, new tarmac paths and associated landscaping. A very hard task within a four week period.

As well as the car parking two main crossings have been upgraded to provide safer access and main paths to the front entrance from the central car park re- located to provide new areas for cycle parking sheds.

All areas will be ready for the return of the students next week

After a long wait Casson Road in Workington has started on site. The project is for 20 residencies, a mixture of semi detatched two story and semi detached bungalows for a local housing association. The properties have been designed to Code for Sustainable Homes 3 standards with whole house ventilation systems, increase insulation and timber frame constructions. The contractors are Thomas Armstrong Construction from Flimby.

Green Design Group moves

Due to Health and Safety issues Green Design Group have been forced to re locate to the Dovenby Hall Estate (M Sport)temporarily. This is whilst post flood work is going on around us and we will hopefully be back towards the end of the year.
